About the position

The Substitute Elementary Campus Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students on campus. This position involves supervising students, monitoring behavior, and assisting in maintaining a safe and clean learning environment. The assistant will work on an on-call basis, providing support as needed throughout the school day.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and reinforce student behavior expectations in assigned areas to ensure a safe school environment.
  • Report issues of student discipline and other concerns to designated staff according to site approved procedures.
  • Assist students by providing emotional support, guidance, and a friendly attitude.
  • Follow health and safety practices and regulations to assure the health and safety of students.
  • Alert staff or administrators in emergency situations as appropriate.
  • Assist with school site activities to ensure a clean and safe learning environment.
  • Set up and take down playground equipment as needed.
  • Administer first aid and CPR to students as required.
  • Supervise and assist students as they arrive to and from school safely.
  • Attend meetings and workshops as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certificates issued by an authorized agency.
  • Experience in the care of children in an organized setting is preferred.
