About the position
This on-call substitute paraprofessional position is designed to support teachers in providing effective supervision and redirection for all students, particularly those with special needs. The role involves assisting in both in-class and small group instruction, ensuring successful inclusion of all children. Additional responsibilities may include serving meals, clerical support, following individual student plans, and preparing materials. The position aims to foster positive community relations among stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Support teachers with supervision and redirection of students.
- Assist in the inclusion of children with special needs during in-class and small group instruction.
- Serve meals to students as needed.
- Provide clerical support to teachers and staff.
- Follow individual student plans to ensure their needs are met.
- Prepare materials for classroom activities.
- Promote good community relations among stakeholders.
Requirements
- Ability to work on an on-call basis as needed throughout the school year.
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students and staff.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a classroom setting as a paraprofessional or similar role.
