About the position

The Substitute Preschool Teacher at Growing Light Montessori School plays a vital role in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children. This position involves assisting in the daily activities of the classroom, ensuring the safety and well-being of the children, and supporting the main teacher in implementing the Montessori curriculum. The role is designed for individuals who are passionate about early childhood education and are looking to contribute to a dynamic and creative learning atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Assists and oversees the children at all times.
• Helps to plan and carry out the daily schedule.
• Assists with covering breaks for other staff members.
• Plans and carries out aftercare activities that align with Growing Light Curriculum Guidelines.
• Communicates with the main day Headteacher to ensure uniform parent interactions and carry individual students' goals into the afternoon.
• Ensures all students are signed out prior to leaving the campus.
• Leads a small group of students during activities.
• Resets classrooms, playgrounds, and shared spaces at the end of the day following closing procedures to ensure a clean and safe environment for the next day.
• Communicates any issues, ouch reports, or parent requests/questions that arise to the campus director.

Requirements

• Minimum 12 units of early childhood education including child development, child, family, and community, and curriculum.
• Minimum 6 months experience working with children.
