About the position

The Substitute Preschool Teacher at St. Thomas More Preschool is responsible for providing a positive and enriching learning experience for pre-kindergarten children. This role involves supporting the classroom teacher by following lesson plans, managing classroom activities, and ensuring a safe and engaging environment for students. The position emphasizes the importance of nurturing each child's development across various domains, including intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual growth.

Responsibilities

• Helps implement a meaningful learning experience for students.
• Interacts with children in classroom activities to support the classroom teacher.
• Follows lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive learning experience.
• Manages the classroom effectively to encourage student participation and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Supervises students in and out of the classroom, including during playground and cafeteria time.
• Assists the teacher in setting up the classroom in the morning and cleaning up in the afternoons.
• Cleans tables after snacks and lunch and sweeps the floors.
• Assists in the daily cleaning of the classroom.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience working with young children is preferred.
• Valid Texas driver's license is required.
• Compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
