About the position

TempCare Childcare Staffing Inc. is seeking a dedicated and flexible Substitute Preschool Teacher to join our team in San Mateo, CA. This position is essential for providing quality early childhood education and care to children in various preschool settings across San Mateo County. As a Substitute Preschool Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children aged infant to preschool. You will be required to commute to multiple locations based on assignments, and your availability for on-call shifts is crucial. The role demands a commitment to working 4-8 hour shifts, with a minimum of 2-5 full days per week dedicated to receiving daily job assignments early in the morning. Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children in preschool settings.
  • Implement age-appropriate educational activities and lessons.
  • Supervise and engage with children during playtime and learning activities.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines, including diaper changing and emergency procedures.
  • Adapt to different educational programs and teaching styles as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Less than 1 year of experience in early childhood education preferred.
  • Must have a valid Child Development Associate Certification or higher permit.
  • Must have a minimum of 12 core units in Early Childhood Education/Development for teachers, or 6 units for assistant teachers.
  • Clear criminal background check required.
  • Health screening including TB test, influenza, measles, and pertussis is mandatory.
  • Basic English skills are required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds in case of emergencies.
