About The Position

The School Nurse - Substitute position is designed to provide comprehensive health services to students, including assessment, screening, planning, intervention, evaluation, counseling, management, and referrals. The primary goal is to minimize student absences due to illness, maximize educational opportunities, and foster a healthy school environment.

Requirements

• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, symptoms, diagnoses, treatments, first aid, illnesses and injuries, and nutrition.
• Ability to diagnose and provide care for ill or injured students.
• Proficient in conveying medical information to staff and medical professionals.
• Basic arithmetic skills for job-related tasks.
• Proficient in using personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Outlook).
• Problem-solving skills for job-related issues.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and students with special needs.
• Ability to follow oral and written orders from supervisors and coordinate with school staff.
• Strong communication skills to describe health services and concerns.

Responsibilities
