About the position

The Substitute Special Education Teacher for Emotional Support will provide per diem services to students in the Reading School District, focusing on implementing lesson plans, providing specialized instruction, and establishing a supportive learning environment for students with emotional support needs. This role emphasizes collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team and the application of behavior analysis and positive behavior supports.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans provided by the regularly assigned classroom teacher
• Provide specialized instruction to students with emotional support (ES) needs
• Establish a supportive learning environment
• Evaluate and assess student progress relative to instructional objectives
• Provide guidance to support staff
• Coordinate delivery of special education services in each student's IEP

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
• Eligible for all school-based clearances
• Prior experience working in secondary classrooms and interest in special education OR prior experience in special education and interest in working in secondary classrooms preferred
