About the position

The Special Education Teacher for Mild/Moderate disabilities will provide specialized instruction to students across various educational levels, including elementary, middle, high school, and adult transition. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities, focusing on academic, social-emotional, and daily living skills. The teacher will also serve as a consultant to school staff regarding special education services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to students requiring specialized assistance in various skill areas.
  • Plan, develop, and implement comprehensive individualized education programs (IEPs).
  • Consult with school staff on special education services and strategies.
  • Assess student progress and adapt instruction as needed.
  • Collaborate with parents and other professionals to support student learning.

Requirements

  • Valid California teaching credential for special education.
  • English Learner Authorization (CLAD, CTEL, or equivalent if not embedded in credential).
  • Three current professional letters of recommendation, including one from a direct supervisor.
  • Unofficial copies of all college/university transcripts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with students with disabilities in a remote setting.
  • Knowledge of current special education laws and best practices.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
