About the position

The Substitute Student Supervision Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students during various school activities. This position is under the supervision of school personnel and involves supervising students on school grounds, during bus transportation, and at special events. The Associate is responsible for enforcing school rules and regulations, promoting courtesy among students, and implementing organizational policies and procedures. The role requires active engagement with students during breakfast, recess, and lunch periods, ensuring that safety rules are followed and that students are behaving appropriately. The Associate will utilize Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) strategies to manage student behavior effectively. In addition to supervising students, the Associate is expected to report any unusual activities, such as loitering individuals on campus, and to call for assistance from authorized personnel in emergencies. Communication is key in this role, as the Associate must follow the school discipline plan and maintain open lines of communication with teachers regarding student behavior. The position may also involve implementing supervision strategies as directed by their supervisor and reporting any incidents involving students or staff to both the school and their supervisor. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, making this a dynamic and engaging role within the school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises students during breakfast, recess and/or lunch periods on the school grounds.
  • Enforces rules and regulations, encourages and promotes courtesy among students.
  • Implements organizational policies and procedures.
  • Supervises students by utilizing PBIS strategies.
  • Ensures safety rules are obeyed.
  • Reports the presence of persons loitering on school campus.
  • Calls for assistance of authorized personnel in the event of an emergency.
  • Follows school discipline plan; communicates with teachers regarding student behavior.
  • Implements supervision strategies as indicated, modeled and coached by their supervisor.
  • Communicates with both school and supervisor of any incident with students or staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience supervising school age children
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Cantonese, Vietnamese or Mandarin (preferred)
  • Must clear TB and Fingerprint check.
