About the position
The Substitute Teacher for the 2024-25 school year is responsible for providing meaningful instruction in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This role involves following lesson plans, maintaining a conducive learning environment, and ensuring student safety and engagement during class hours.
Responsibilities
- Reports to school office at the beginning and end of the school day to manage materials and schedules.
- Carries out the program of study as prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Guides the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans.
- Employs instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting lesson objectives.
- Maintains a neat and orderly classroom, including taking attendance and managing classroom setup.
- Indicates basic expectations for behavior to students at the beginning of class in accordance with school policies.
- Ensures that students are never left unattended and knows emergency procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum of 60 credit hours of college coursework; bachelor's degree preferred.
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
