About the position

Educare of Omaha, Inc. is seeking dedicated Substitute Teachers to join our team, playing a vital role in the educational and emotional development of children aged 0 to 5 years. This position offers a flexible schedule, allowing candidates to choose their own hours, ranging from 8 to 40 hours per week. The Substitute Teacher will be responsible for following the program standards set by Educare of Omaha, Early Head Start, Sixpence, the Nebraska Department of Education, and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The role is essential in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children, ensuring their social and cognitive development through evidence-based education and support services. As a Substitute Teacher, you will be expected to maintain efficient classroom management, ensure the safety of children and materials, and foster positive relationships with parents, students, and school personnel. This position is non-exempt and hourly, reporting directly to the Senior Director of Operations. The Substitute Teacher is a non-supervisory role, allowing for a focus on direct educational engagement with students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education and a commitment to promoting school readiness through collaborative efforts with families and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all policies, rules, and procedures to which teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
  • Maintain efficient classroom management.
  • Take necessary and reasonable actions to ensure the safety of children, materials, and center equipment.
  • Ensure a sustainable relationship with parents, pupils, school personnel, and members of the public by communicating in a confidential, polite, and refined manner.
  • Comply with written and oral instructions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • An associate or bachelor's degree in education (Early Childhood preferred)
  • One year of experience in a licensed childcare program
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to pass a background check that meets compliance standards.
