About the position

The Substitute Teacher Assistant position is a temporary role designed to support classroom teachers in various educational tasks. This position requires the assistant to engage in paraprofessional work, which includes assisting with emergency plans, health-related services, behavioral plans, and instructional procedures. The role is performed under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher or building administrator, ensuring that the assistant is guided and supported throughout their duties. The assistant will be expected to interact positively with students, parents, and staff, fostering a supportive and collaborative educational environment. The duration of the assignment is contingent upon program needs and the availability of funding, making flexibility and adaptability key components of this role.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing instructional procedures.
• Support the execution of emergency plans and health-related services.
• Help manage behavioral plans for students as directed by the teacher.
• Engage with students in a positive and supportive manner.
• Communicate effectively with parents and staff regarding student needs and progress.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
