About the position

The Substitute Teacher at Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) plays a crucial role in ensuring that students continue their education smoothly in the absence of a certified teacher. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about inspiring young learners and are committed to the mission of providing an academically rigorous education. The Substitute Teacher will follow lesson plans, manage student behavior, and maintain the established routines of the classroom, all while fostering a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Reviews plans and schedules with the principal or designated teacher before the teaching day.
• Teaches lessons prepared by the absent teacher.
• Reports daily activities in writing and provides feedback as requested by the principal.
• Follows all school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures.
• Consults with the principal or supervisor before initiating any lesson not specified in the teacher's plans.
• Maintains established routines and procedures of the school and classrooms.
• Oversees pupil behavior in class and during the school day.
• Maintains appropriate student behavior throughout the school day.
• Maintains good relations with faculty and staff and treats student information with confidentiality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university.
• Experience in a classroom setting.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment toward the job and the mission of the company.
• Ability to work and interact with staff at all levels of the organization.
• Strong time management skills including prioritizing, organizing, and scheduling.
• Basic computer skills including Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.

Nice-to-haves

• Teaching Certification license.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel.
