About the position

As a Substitute Teacher at Charter Schools USA, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that students continue their education smoothly in the absence of a certified teacher. You will be responsible for following lesson plans, managing student behavior, and maintaining the established routines of the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews plans and schedules with the principal or designated teacher before the teaching day.
  • Teaches lessons prepared by the absent teacher.
  • Reports daily activities in writing and provides feedback as requested by the principal.
  • Follows all school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures.
  • Consults with the principal or supervisor before initiating any lesson not specified in the teacher's plans.
  • Maintains established routines and procedures of the school and classrooms.
  • Oversees pupil behavior in class and during the school day as requested.
  • Maintains appropriate student behavior throughout the school day.
  • Maintains good relations with faculty and staff.
  • Treats information about students and staff with utmost confidence.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree or higher from an accredited university.
  • Experience in a classroom setting.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment toward the job and the mission of the company.
  • Ability to work and interact with staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong time management skills including prioritizing, organizing, and scheduling.
  • Basic computer skills including Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including active listening and interpersonal skills.
