The Substitute Teacher position at Quinsigamond Community College's Children's School is a part-time role focused on providing high-quality education and care for children in a preschool setting. The position requires working directly with children from Monday through Friday, with hours determined by the needs of the Children's School, which operates from 7:00 AM to 5:15 PM. The teacher will be responsible for maintaining the educational standards and philosophy of the Early Childhood Education Department, collaborating with faculty and staff to implement curriculum changes and new developments in the program. The role also involves serving as a model for student teachers in the Early Childhood Education Program, ensuring the safety and well-being of children, and maintaining a clean and safe environment in the classroom. In addition to direct teaching responsibilities, the Substitute Teacher will be expected to maintain ongoing records and reports as required by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and other regulatory agencies. Participation in parent nights and other events is also part of the role, as is regular communication with the lead teacher regarding any individual concerns of parents or children. The teacher will need to extend teaching hours as necessary to maintain state ratios and will be responsible for reporting any safety concerns regarding the facility or equipment. The position requires active participation in professional development opportunities, including conferences and workshops, and maintaining membership in the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
