About the position

The Substitute Teacher for ESL/High School Equivalency at Kenmore Junior Senior High School is a per diem role focused on delivering high-quality instruction to diverse learners. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, with availability needed for either morning or evening shifts. The teacher will implement lesson plans, adapt instruction to meet student needs, and foster an inclusive classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans left by the primary teacher, adapting as needed to ensure effective learning.
• Deliver engaging, learner-centered lessons that accommodate various proficiency levels.
• Create a positive and respectful classroom environment, encouraging participation and fostering inclusivity.
• Assess student understanding and progress informally, offering guidance and support where necessary.
• Manage classroom and maintain attendance records.
• Communicate any issues, achievements, or needs to program staff.

Requirements

• Availability to work either 9-1P or 5-9P Monday through Thursday.
• Experience in teaching ESL or high school equivalency subjects.
