Genesee Lake School, a MyPath Company, is hiring a Substitute Teacher to join our education department! We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and caring individual who is looking to make a difference in children's lives. As a Substitute Teacher, you will provide individualized education and engage students in active learning. You will be responsible for providing classroom data, reports, observations, and feedback when requested by the designated IEP team. It is essential to ensure that the classroom environment and activities are conducive to students' development of independence, competence, and sense of self-worth. You will incorporate thematic teaching units in the curriculum and assign and supervise specific teaching and classroom tasks to Instructional Aides and ESPs/DSPs. Additionally, you will provide feedback for staff working within the classroom setting and ensure that Education Department policies are upheld. You will implement instructional models for students assigned and collaborate with various departments and programs to discuss implementing treatment plans within the academic setting. Using Agency-approved treatment techniques, you will supervise and educate students, demonstrating flexibility in meeting changing student needs. You should be comfortable supporting students across all programs and flexible with supporting any classroom as needed. The ability to instruct utilizing a workshop approach, incorporating elements of direct instruction, independent work time, learning games, etc., is also required.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Associates Degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Certified or eligible to become certified by the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as a substitute teacher.
  • Experience working with autism, emotional disabilities, or intellectual disabilities is preferred.
  • Satisfactory performance and attendance record.
  • Demonstrates an ability to exercise good judgment and effectively solve problems.
