About the position

The Substitute Teacher for K-12 grades at Camden's Promise Charter School is responsible for instructing students and facilitating their learning in the absence of the regular teacher. This role requires following lesson plans, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and adapting teaching methods to meet diverse student needs.

Responsibilities

• Follow regular teacher's lesson plans to ensure consistency and optimal learning.
• Assign classwork and homework as necessary according to lesson plans.
• Modify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various students.
• Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment.
• Supervise students out of class, such as in hallways and cafeterias.
• Create lesson plans, grade classwork, homework, and tests, and attend parent-teacher conferences for long-term substitute assignments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (preferred)
• Above-average competency in at least two subject areas (such as math and social studies)
• Strong command of the English language
• Ability to remember many names
• Flexible, friendly, and good at establishing quick rapport with students
• Setting the proper tone from the beginning for classroom management.
