About the position

Madina Academy is seeking a permanent Substitute Teacher for the 2021-2022 school year, covering grades K-12. The role involves stepping in for classroom teachers when they are unavailable, with assignments varying daily and no long-term commitments. The ideal candidate should be adaptable and flexible, with a valid teaching certification.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary substitute for the district when classroom teachers are out.
• Implement lesson plans and instructions left by the absent teacher.
• Create and enforce structured discipline and classroom control.
• Establish a safe and positive environment for all students and staff members.
• Oversee student behavior in the classroom and surrounding areas.
• Report all incidences of students, including injuries, accidents, illnesses, and behavioral problems to the appropriate authority.
• Utilize all academic class time to continue the students' learning progress.
• Engage all students in lessons through interactive teaching methods.
• Organize students and the classroom for effective instruction.
• Complete a Substitute Teacher Report Form for the regular classroom teacher at the end of every assignment.
• Return all instructional materials, equipment, and keys to the proper location at the end of the day.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s).

Requirements

• Hold a valid-grade appropriate Connecticut teaching certificate (preferred).
• Experience in teaching is required.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• State and national criminal check, as well as state background check, are required.
