About the position

Scoot Education is seeking dedicated and passionate Substitute Teachers for K-12 positions in Fort Worth, TX. This role offers the flexibility to choose your own hours, allowing you to work full-time, part-time, or temporarily based on your availability. As a substitute teacher, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on teaching experience while earning competitive pay rates, with up to $139 per day for day-to-day assignments and even more for long-term roles. We prioritize the needs of our educators and provide comprehensive support to help you excel in the classroom. Our approach includes personalized 1:1 check-ins, where we discuss feedback from schools and listen to your preferences before matching you with assignments. Our consultants, many of whom are former teachers, are available to offer guidance and share valuable teaching advice. Additionally, we provide free online training covering essential topics such as trauma-informed teaching and classroom management, ensuring you are well-prepared for your assignments. Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction and support to students in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Follow lesson plans and adapt as necessary to meet the needs of students.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents as needed.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits.
  • Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor.
  • Successful completion of a background check (cost covered by Scoot Education).
  • A passion for education and a commitment to putting students first.
  • An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to excel in teaching.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in K-12 education or teaching roles.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed teaching practices.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
