About the position

The Substitute Teacher for the Positive Education Program is responsible for leading and delivering standards-based instruction for K-12 students with disabilities. This role emphasizes creating a supportive classroom environment that fosters academic achievement and social-emotional growth. The teacher will collaborate with a team to integrate educational and mental health services, ensuring that each student's individual needs are met through tailored instructional plans and assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, deliver, and evaluate standards-based instruction for students with disabilities.
  • Create a classroom environment that promotes high levels of achievement and social-emotional growth.
  • Collaborate with classroom team members to provide integrated education and mental health services.
  • Design individualized programs (IEPs) and standards-based instructional plans using various assessment strategies.
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate lessons aligned with Ohio Learning Standards and agency-adopted curriculum materials.
  • Implement effective instructional strategies and pedagogy to meet diverse student needs.
  • Utilize technology to create engaging learning environments that ensure safety and emotional well-being.
  • Carry out duties in alignment with the Ohio State Testing Program and individual IEP decisions.
  • Produce required assessments, lesson plans, and reports accurately and on schedule.
  • Participate in professional development and training activities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
  • Special Education Teaching Credential: Intervention Specialist License or equivalent preferred.
  • Substitute licensure, PK-12 required.
  • Experience working with behaviorally challenged children/youth.
  • CPR Certification and other relevant certifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Highly Qualified Teacher status in core subject areas preferred.
  • Experience in therapeutic crisis intervention.
