The Substitute Teacher plays a crucial role in maintaining the educational environment in the absence of regular classroom teachers. This position requires the individual to perform instructional and classroom management duties, ensuring that students continue to receive quality education and support. The substitute teacher is responsible for adhering to the curriculum and lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, which includes taking attendance, explaining homework assignments, and maintaining a clean and orderly classroom environment. The role also involves overseeing students during transitions outside the classroom, such as in hallways and cafeterias, ensuring that all school regulations and policies are followed at all times. In addition to following lesson plans, the substitute teacher must effectively communicate with students, assign and explain homework, and document daily notes regarding student attendance and behavior. It is essential for the substitute teacher to compile a report for the regular teacher upon their return, summarizing the day's activities and any notable occurrences. This position is temporary and requires a commitment to work Monday through Friday, with a pay rate of $15.00 per hour. Candidates must hold an associate's degree or have completed 60 semester hours of college coursework to be considered for this role. The work location is in-person, and candidates must be prepared to pass a level 2 background screening and a drug screening.
