About the position
The Substitute Teacher for Lower School is responsible for implementing lesson plans left by the regular teacher, ensuring a productive and orderly classroom environment. This role is essential in maintaining the educational standards and philosophy of The Shipley School while providing support to students and staff during the teacher's absence.
Responsibilities
- Following the lesson plan left by the teacher in accordance with Shipley's philosophy, goals, and objectives.
- Meeting and instructing assigned classes in designated locations and times.
- Establishing and maintaining order in the classroom.
- Maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
- Taking necessary precautions to protect students, materials, equipment, and facilities.
- Assisting in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and school policies.
- Cooperating with school personnel.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative relations with other employees.
- Reporting to the division head or his/her designee at the beginning and end of the school day.
- Performing other responsibilities as directed by the division head.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience working with students.
- Satisfactory results of mandatory background clearances and training.
