About the position

The Substitute Teacher position is located in various locations and is an hourly role with a starting wage of $14.84 to $21.23, depending on education. CORS offers educational advancement opportunities for motivated individuals with a heart for service. With an Associate’s Degree or higher, candidates are eligible for Head Teacher openings, which pay between $22.24 and $26.08 hourly. The role involves collaborating with the Early Childhood Service Coordinator, Head Teacher, Family Advocate, and families to plan and implement the Head Start educational program for preschool children, preparing them for kindergarten and beyond. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Head Teacher on daily operations in the center classroom, working with both children and parents.
  • Prepare the learning environment and gather necessary materials for daily routines, small and large group times, outdoor time, and mealtime activities.
  • Ensure the safety of all children by providing proper supervision and maintaining a safe, healthy, sanitary, and organized learning environment.
  • Develop and implement activities and experiences that promote children's interests and skill building in all developmental domains.
  • Assist in completing developmental screenings of all children.
  • Support family engagement and male involvement activities throughout the program year.
  • Complete home visits, plans, and parent/teacher conferences as requested by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Experience in early childhood education or social services preferred, but on-the-job training will be provided.
  • High school diploma or GED with a CDA or equivalent, or agree to enroll in a CORS approved accredited Child Development (CDA) program and complete it within two years.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds, stoop, reach, bend, and work on the floor with small children.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving history.
