About the position

Dwight-Englewood School is currently seeking Substitute Teachers for grades 6-12. This role is essential in maintaining the educational environment and ensuring that students continue to receive quality instruction in the absence of their regular teachers. The Substitute Teacher will be responsible for implementing lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, and providing support to students in their academic endeavors. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the developmental, social, emotional, and cognitive issues that affect middle and upper school students. They will also be expected to model the spirit of the Mission and Foundation Documents of the Dwight-Englewood School while working collaboratively with students, faculty, parents, and community members. This position requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment, as well as the ability to engage with a diverse community of learners. The role is temporary and offers an hourly wage between $24 and $30, depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Support and model the spirit of the Mission and Foundation Documents of the Dwight-Englewood School in work with students, faculty, parents, and community members.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and experience with, the developmental, social, emotional, and cognitive issues of the middle and upper school grades.
  • Implement lesson plans and manage classroom behavior in the absence of regular teachers.
  • Provide support to students in their academic endeavors.

Requirements

  • A minimum of sixty (60) college credits completed.
  • Understanding of curriculum expectations and benchmarks for middle/upper school students.
  • Experience with, and a commitment to, diversity and equity work.
  • Previous experience working in a middle or upper school setting preferred.
