As a Substitute Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms, following the lesson plans provided by the regular teacher. You will assist students in understanding the subject matter, maintain classroom routines, and create a safe and orderly environment conducive to learning. Your role will also involve evaluating and grading students' work, maintaining attendance records, and collaborating with colleagues to address teaching and research issues. Responsibilities

• Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while the regular teacher is absent.
• Review and implement the regular teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives.
• Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment.
• Report any student injuries, illness, and serious discipline problems to the school administration.
• Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
• Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers.
• Supervise students' fieldwork, internship, and research work.
• Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
• Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
• Compile, administer, and grade examinations, or assign this work to others.
• Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
• Issue written and oral instructions; assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as directed by the school administration.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Excellent skills in Microsoft Windows.
