About the position

We are hiring substitutes at New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy (NOMMA) for the 2024/2025 School Year! This position is ideal for individuals looking to make a difference in the lives of students. As a substitute teacher, you will have the opportunity to mentor and guide students, helping them to become the best versions of themselves. Substitutes play a crucial role in ensuring that students continue to learn and grow every day, even in the absence of their regular teachers. This role is not just about filling in; it’s about empowering students to engage in their education and encouraging classroom participation. Substitutes may also be referred to as substitute educators, guest teachers, or relief teachers. In addition, substitute aides may be known as paraprofessionals, education technicians, teacher's aides, instructional assistants, classroom assistants, or education assistants. This position is rewarding and offers a chance to positively impact the educational experience of students. Responsibilities

  • Assume duties of the district employee in accordance with school district lesson plans, school rules, and Kelly policies.
  • Empower students to learn, and encourage classroom participation.
  • For long-term teacher assignments, it may be required to develop lesson plans, as well as build, administer, and grade tests and assignments.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
