About the position

The On-call Substitute Teacher at Ombudsman Educational Services is responsible for delivering instructional practices and strategies to enhance student achievement. This role involves creating lesson plans, maintaining classroom order, and collaborating with other educators to support students' educational needs. The position is part-time and offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on innovation and personal growth.

Responsibilities

• Delivering instruction using curriculum materials and educational software.
• Developing daily lesson plans and classroom schedules that meet state and school requirements.
• Collaborating with fellow teachers and support staff to provide instructional support and curriculum modifications.
• Implementing standards for student behavior to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
• Maintaining regular contact with students' parents/guardians regarding progress and challenges.
• Participating in team meetings to address specific student and parent concerns.
• Assessing student progress through data collection and recording systems.
• Staying updated with research-based practices and developments in the subject area.
• Responding constructively to feedback.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a related field.
• Meet all state substitute teacher licensing and/or certification requirements.
• Prior experience in an alternative education or classroom setting preferred.
• Advanced communication, instruction, curriculum, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Experience working with students with diverse needs at various levels.
• Knowledge of relevant technology, including instructional technology and Microsoft Office Suite.
