About the position

The Substitute Teacher (On-Call) position at the Coeur d'Alene Tribal School is a temporary role responsible for instructing students in the absence of regular teachers. The role involves following lesson plans, overseeing student behavior, and ensuring a smooth educational experience in accordance with the school's educational program.

Responsibilities

• Report to the school administration upon arrival, ideally 30 minutes before school starts.
• Review the plans, schedules, and duties to be followed for the day.
• Assume responsibility for overseeing student behavior in and out of class.
• Follow lesson plans prepared by the classroom teacher and leave a report of the day's activity for the regular classroom teacher.
• Report to the building administrator upon dismissal of the children to see if services will be needed the next teaching day.
• Perform other duties as required by the discretion of the building administration.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• Prefer minimum of 2 years of college education or more.
• Recommended for substitute teaching by the building principal.
• Ability to work and relate well with students and adults.
• Good physical health to carry out expected duties as assigned.
• Must pass an in-depth background investigation prior to employment; no misdemeanor or felony offenses related to abuse, neglect, or endangerment of a child or an elder.
• Must have received full COVID-19 vaccination at the time of application and comply with health policies established by the Tribe.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a teaching or educational environment.
• Certification in Child Development Associate Certification.
