About the position

Teachers On Call, a Kelly Education Company, is seeking substitutes for various roles including Substitute Teacher, Paraprofessional, Custodial, Food Service Worker, and Clerical positions within local school districts. This role allows individuals to inspire the next generation while enjoying a flexible work schedule that fits their lifestyle. Substitutes will have the opportunity to positively impact students' education and earn steady income through both short- and long-term assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Assume duties of the classroom teacher in accordance with school district lesson plans, school rules, and Kelly policies.
  • Lead instruction in the classroom by conducting the teacher's existing lesson plans.
  • Teach students on a variety of classroom topics/courses.
  • Build positive relationships with students.
  • Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students.
  • Empower students to learn and encourage classroom participation.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Adapt to the various learning styles of students.
  • Provide classroom assistance to the district/school teacher and support to general education or special needs students.
  • Ensure adequate supervision of students and classroom environment to assure health, welfare, and safety of students.
  • Assist students in transition to and from classrooms, as needed.
  • Assist in providing food service preparation and services to students, and other kitchen-related duties.
  • Follow all food safety and storage rules and established sanitation procedures.
  • Assist in providing cleaning, maintenance, and other custodial care services to the building and school grounds.
  • Operate office equipment like printer, scanner, fax and related software.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt to various learning styles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Understanding of classroom management techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures for food service roles.
  • Ability to operate office equipment and perform data entry for clerical roles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Previous experience in food service or custodial roles.
  • Familiarity with special education needs and support.
