About the position

The Substitute Teacher/Paraprofessional at ESS Southeast, LLC plays a crucial role in supporting classroom instruction and assisting students, particularly those with special needs, in the absence of regular teachers. This position involves following lesson plans, maintaining classroom routines, and providing additional support to enhance students' academic and personal growth.

Responsibilities

• Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while regular teacher is absent
• Review and implement regular teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives
• Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment
• Report any student injuries, illness, and serious discipline problems to school administration
• Perform other duties as directed by school administration
• Provide instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students
• Assist teacher with classroom management and general supervision of the class
• Assist with administrative duties such as setting up equipment and preparing materials
• Supervise students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, specials, hallways, on field trips, and/or during before and after school programs
• Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs
• Support students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans
• Perform other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administration

Requirements

• Ability to follow lesson plans and classroom routines
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe environment
• Experience working with students, especially those with special needs
• Basic understanding of educational practices and procedures

Nice-to-haves

• Experience as a teacher or paraprofessional
• Familiarity with IEPs and 504 Plans
• Certification in first aid or CPR
