The Substitute Teacher, also referred to as a Guest Teacher, plays a crucial role in maintaining the continuity of education in the absence of the full-time classroom teacher. This position is essential for ensuring that students receive consistent instruction and support, fostering their academic progress and engagement. The Guest Teacher is responsible for implementing existing lesson plans, which requires a thorough understanding of the curriculum and the ability to motivate students to learn and participate actively in their education. The role involves instructing students across various subjects, addressing different learning styles, and modeling the correct use of spoken and written English. In addition to following lesson plans, the Substitute Teacher may be tasked with assigning reasonable homework and tasks that align with the lesson objectives. For long-term assignments, the responsibilities expand to include developing lesson plans, creating and grading tests and assignments, and participating in parent-teacher conferences. This role may also require attendance at school-related functions, which could occur outside of regular school hours. Classroom management is a critical aspect of this position. The Substitute Teacher must maintain a safe and positive learning environment, ensuring that all students are supervised adequately. This includes taking necessary precautions to protect school property and materials, monitoring student behavior, and reporting any incidents or issues to the campus principal.
