About the position

The substitute teaching position with ESS offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on education by stepping in for absent teachers. As a substitute teacher, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the educational process, ensuring that students continue to learn effectively in the absence of their regular instructor. This role not only allows you to utilize your teaching skills but also provides a pathway to potential full-time teaching opportunities within partner districts.

Responsibilities

• Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while regular teacher is absent
• Review and implement regular teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives
• Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment
• Report any student injuries, illness, and serious discipline problems to school administration
• Perform other duties as directed by school administration

Requirements

• Completion of at least 60 college/university credit hours
• FBI Criminal History Clearance
• A Michigan Substitute Teaching Permit (ESS will apply on your behalf)

Nice-to-haves

• Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively
