Substitute Teacher (Temporary/As Needed)

About the position

The position involves substituting in classrooms as needed, ensuring the safety of students at all times, and following lesson plans carefully. The substitute teacher will adhere to a set schedule for lunch, recess, and specials classes, and assist teachers with various tasks such as filing and grading papers as time permits, while prioritizing student supervision and lesson execution. Responsibilities also include monitoring students during recess, lunch, and in car line/holding room, treating all children with dignity and respect, attending recommended training programs and conferences, and performing other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Responsibilities

• Substitute teach in classrooms as needed.
• Supervise students at all times to ensure safety - never leave students unattended.
• Follow lesson plans carefully.
• Adhere to set schedule for lunch, recess, specials classes, etc.
• Assist teachers in any other appropriate ways (filing papers, grading paper, etc. as time permits).
• Monitor recess, lunch, and car line/holding room unless otherwise noted.
• Treat all children with dignity and respect.
• Attend recommended training programs and conferences.
• Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Requirements

• Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ.
• Involvement with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice.
• Agreement with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.
• Commitment to the mission, philosophy, goals and objectives of Christian schooling.
• A minimum of a bachelor's degree.
• A desire for excellence in all work performed.
• MS Office experience demonstrating basic proficiency with Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• PC general competency in learning help desk, mySCS, and time clock software applications.
• Independent, able to work with minimal supervision.
