Responsibilities

• Report to the school secretary upon arrival at the school building.
• Review all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
• Maintain established routines and procedures of the school and classroom.
• Teach the lesson outlined in the Substitute Teacher's Folder prepared by the absent teacher.
• Consult with the building principal before initiating any teaching or procedures not specified in the Substitute Teacher's Folder.
• Oversee pupil behavior in class and during lunch and recess periods.
• Report in writing on the day's activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
• Follow all policies, rules, and procedures applicable to regular teachers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (Texas only).
• Bachelor's degree and substitute teaching certification (Arizona and Nevada only).
• Teaching Certification.
