About the position

The Substitute Teacher at Family Focus plays a crucial role in providing classroom coverage and support as needed. This position involves working cooperatively with regular classroom staff to ensure a smooth educational experience for children. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for following daily classroom activities and directions from the Lead Teacher and Teacher Assistant, serving as an ambassador for the school and the agency.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom coverage and support as needed.
• Follow daily classroom activities as directed by regular classroom staff.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with peers, parents, families, and community partners.
• Provide supervision to children and assist in their play and activities.
• Assist in the setup, supervision, and cleanup of activities and meals with classroom staff.
• Complete reports and documents as directed by regular classroom staff.
• Explore new curriculum ideas and implement the Project Approach along with the Creative Curriculum.
• Adapt curriculum and provide leadership for planning and implementation of activities to meet each child's individual needs.

Requirements

• Minimum of an Associate degree in Child Development from an accredited institution or enrollment in an AS program with at least 30 credits, including 15 credits in Child Development.
• Infant Toddler (I/T) or Early Childhood Education (ECE) Gateways Credential Level 4.
• Minimum of six months experience in an early childhood program.
• Experience providing classroom coverage in the absence of regular classroom staff.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with peers, parents, families, and community partners.
