About the position

The Substitute Teacher position at San Francisco Friends School involves providing educational support across grades K-8. The role is designed for experienced educators who align with the school's mission of fostering a community dedicated to peaceful problem solving and respect for individuals. Substitute Teachers will execute lesson plans, support social-emotional learning, and manage classroom behavior while adapting to the needs of students and teachers.

Responsibilities

• Leading instruction across various grade levels as needed (either grades K-4 or grades 5-8).
• Executing the teacher's lesson plans and reporting back to the teacher any concerns or issues from the day.
• Providing social emotional learning support for students and managing student and classroom behavior.
• Assisting with various duties and providing support for teachers and students as needed.
• Accompanying students and attending some specialist classes, as needed.
• Providing short-term coverage for Lead Teachers or Assistant Teachers, as needed.
• Considering additional responsibilities based on individual interests and experience.

Requirements

• Experience in teaching K-8 students.
• High emotional intelligence (EQ) and behavior management skills.
• Comfortable working with educational technology.
• Experience with a variety of teaching methodologies across K-8.
