About the position

The Substitute Teacher at Midland Christian School is a temporary educator responsible for maintaining a positive learning environment in the absence of regular teachers. This role involves implementing lesson plans, delivering instruction, and ensuring student engagement and safety. The substitute teacher must adapt to various classroom settings and communicate effectively with staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive and orderly learning environment.
• Enforce school and classroom rules to ensure student behavior is conducive to learning.
• Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher or create engaging activities if lesson plans are not available.
• Deliver lessons and instructions to students, answering questions and providing support as needed.
• Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
• Take attendance and report it to the school office.
• Provide feedback on the day's activities and student behavior to the Substitute Coordinator.
• Monitor students during classroom activities, recess, lunch, and other times as required.
• Ensure a safe and secure environment for all students.
• Be adaptable and flexible to different teaching environments, grade levels, and subjects.
• Communicate effectively with school staff and students.
• Relay important information to the regular teacher and adhere to school policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate a professional attitude and appearance.
• Handle disciplinary issues and conflicts that may arise during the absence of the regular teacher.
• Be aware of and follow emergency procedures, including evacuation plans and other safety protocols.
• Provide constructive feedback to the regular teacher about the day's activities, student performance, and any other relevant information.

Requirements
