About the position

The Substitute Teacher at St. Anthony of Padua School is responsible for supporting the school's mission to educate youth in a Catholic environment. This role involves teaching K-8 students under the direction of the principal, ensuring adherence to Catholic teachings, and fostering a positive learning environment. The substitute teacher is expected to model Gospel values and participate in the school's faith community activities.

Responsibilities

• Support the unique Catholic mission of the school by aligning actions and teachings with the Roman Catholic Church.
• Model Gospel values and participate in school religious and service activities.
• Lead and participate in daily classroom prayer.
• Prepare lessons to achieve academic goals and objectives, including a Catholic religious curriculum.
• Demonstrate competence in teaching and communicate effectively with students.
• Evaluate student progress and maintain effective methods of evaluation.
• Establish a consistent disciplinary approach and manage student behavior effectively.
• Maintain a functional and pleasant learning environment.
• Cooperate with school and diocesan administration and promote positive relationships with students and parents.
• Attend scheduled faculty trainings and meetings promptly.
• Enforce school policies and maintain confidentiality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
• Certified by the State of Arizona as a Teacher or a Substitute Teacher.
• Strong commitment to the mission of fostering lay leadership in the Roman Catholic Church.
• Excellent communication skills, including written, oral, public speaking, and presentation skills.
• Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter and well-organized.
• Proficiency in computer technology, including word processing and Excel.
