About the position

The Substitute Teacher position is a temporary, full-time role focused on maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring that students engage with the curriculum. The ideal candidate will collaborate with co-teachers, manage classroom behavior, and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan with a co-teacher and deliver lessons to ensure that students meet learning objectives.
• Manage classroom behavior and maintain a welcoming, respectful and productive learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration regarding classroom activities and student progress.
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the varying needs of students.
• Assist in curriculum development by providing feedback on lesson effectiveness and student engagement.
• Foster an inclusive atmosphere that supports diverse learning styles.
• Monitor student performance and provide guidance to support literacy education and childhood development.

Requirements

• Valid Substitute Teaching Certification license.
• Experience working with students in a classroom setting.
• High school diploma or GED.

Nice-to-haves

• NYS State certification
• 1 year of childcare experience
