About the position

La Casa de Don Pedro is seeking temporary Substitute Teachers to assist with the administration and operations of the Early Childhood department. The role involves working with preschool-aged children, fostering engagement in their education, and building positive relationships with parents. The Substitute Teacher will contribute to the overall efficiency of the organization by providing personalized support as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in the implementation of the Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards and curriculum alignment with New Jersey - Department of Education standards.
  • Plan and implement the Creative Curriculum in the preschool classroom for up to 20 children (ages 3-4 years old).
  • Contribute to the assessment of children throughout the year using tools like ESRI-R, ASQ-SE, and GOLD.
  • Implement detailed activities for individual, small, and whole groups of children according to their needs.
  • Attend required trainings and workshops for identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect.
  • Stay updated on information pertaining to the needs of the children in the program, including Head Start Performance Standards and childcare licensing regulations.
  • Assist in developing individual plans for each child to meet established school readiness goals and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other education staff, parents, and Parent Committee members to develop a meaningful curriculum.
  • Participate in home visits and assist with parent-teacher conferences.
  • Establish positive relationships with parents and foster engagement in their children's education.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment for children.
  • Ensure children have sufficient and appropriate outdoor daily time.
  • Administer and observe the organization's office operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Engage in community building and outreach efforts to increase awareness of La Casa's programs.

Requirements

  • County Substitute Certificate.
  • Minimum High School diploma required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • No experience needed; training will be provided.
