The Substitute Teacher plays a crucial role in supporting the educational environment for children in Williamson and Burnet Counties. This position is responsible for assisting with curriculum and program planning for Head Start, ensuring that all activities align with the educational goals set forth by the organization. The Substitute Teacher operates under the close supervision of the Center Director, with limited autonomy in decision-making. The primary focus is on maintaining a safe and clean work environment, which includes the classroom and outdoor play areas. The Substitute Teacher is expected to engage with parents, encouraging their input into daily curriculum and ensuring that all necessary health screenings are completed in a timely manner. In addition to these responsibilities, the Substitute Teacher will assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) into classroom activities, integrating various content areas into the learning experience. Customer service is a key component of this role, as the Substitute Teacher will greet and direct visitors, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. Participation in professional development opportunities is also required, which may take place off-site. Confidentiality is paramount, and the Substitute Teacher must communicate effectively with parents about their child's daily experiences, especially in the absence of the regular teacher.
