About the position

As a Substitute Teacher at Paladin Inc, you will play a vital role in advocating for children, individuals with disabilities, seniors, and their families. Your primary responsibility will be to create a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters meaningful relationships with children, parents, and families. This position is essential in ensuring the success of our educational programs and the overall development of the children in our care. You will be expected to assist in maintaining computerized records for child and family tracking systems, visually assess the health and behaviors of children, and make significant decisions that support the developmental progress of each child. In addition to your teaching responsibilities, you will be required to implement the Reggio Emilia Progettazione approach in alignment with NAEYC, Indiana Early Learning, and Head Start standards. You will support teachers in applying developmentally appropriate behavior management techniques, including Conscious Discipline, and assist in providing parents with opportunities to engage in the daily curriculum. Building respectful, culturally responsive, and trusting relationships with families is crucial to your role. You will also be responsible for ensuring a safe environment through active supervision and adherence to emergency procedures. To be successful in this role, you must be committed to continuous professional development, including completing 15 credit hours in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education based on your individualized professional development plan. This position requires a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for work-related responsibilities, as well as the ability to obtain Adult and Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure active supervision of children at all times and apply emergency procedures.

Requirements

  • Successful Drug Screening.
  • Successful Physical Capacities Examination and TB screen results.
  • Criminal History Background Clearance.
  • Required computer literacy: Word processing, database, Internet, spreadsheets, and e-mail.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Valid Driver's License and access to a privately-owned vehicle with liability insurance.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain Adult and Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certifications within 30 days from date of hire.
  • Complete 15 credit hours in ECE and a minimum of 20 hours continuing education based on individualized professional development plan.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of working in a preschool setting preferred, but not required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish desirable, but not required.
