The Substitute Teacher position at Salida del Sol Academy involves stepping in for teachers who are absent or unable to attend classes. As a substitute teacher, you will be responsible for overseeing classroom instruction and managing pupil behavior during class, lunch, and recess periods. You will also be required to record absences in accordance with school procedures and communicate with the school office regarding assignments and necessary paperwork at the end of the teaching day. This position is part-time and temporary, with a pay rate of $160 per day, and it offers a flexible schedule with shifts from Monday to Friday, typically lasting 8 hours.

Responsibilities

• Oversee classroom instruction and pupil behavior during class, lunch, and recess periods.
• Record absences in accordance with school procedures.
• Stop in the school office at the end of the teaching day to receive instructions for the next assignment and complete required personnel forms.
• Return keys and other materials after completing the assignment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current teaching license or CDE substitute license.
• Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred but not required.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good problem-solving ability and good judgment.
• Ability to interact appropriately with children of different ages.
