About the position

The Williamson Central School District is seeking dedicated Substitute Teachers and Teacher Assistants to ensure that students can continue their education smoothly in the absence of their regular teachers. The role involves reporting to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school, where the substitute will review plans and schedules for the day. It is essential for substitutes to maintain the established routines and procedures of the classroom to which they are assigned, ensuring a consistent learning environment for students. Substitutes will be responsible for teaching the lessons outlined in the Substitute Teacher's Plan prepared by the absent teacher. This includes consulting with the building principal before initiating any teaching or procedures not specified in the plan. Additionally, substitutes will oversee pupil behavior, ensuring a safe and productive classroom atmosphere. At the end of the teaching day, substitutes are required to sign the attendance register and follow all policies, rules, and procedures applicable to regular teachers. The role may also involve carrying out other assigned duties as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Education.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • At least one year of college completed.
  • Valid Teaching Certification license (preferred but not mandatory).
