About the position

The Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Field Technician III position at T2 Utility Engineers involves leading field crew operations to ensure accurate utility mapping. The role requires mastery in operating utility locating equipment and supervising daily activities while maintaining safety and communication with clients and subcontractors. This position offers opportunities for career advancement within a company that has been a leader in the utility locating industry since 1993.

Responsibilities

  • Mastery in the operation of SUE utility locating and designating equipment in complex utility infrastructure environments to accurately map all utilities within the project area.
  • Complete detailed accurate daily reports, forms and field sketches, both electronically as well as draft by hand.
  • Supervise daily SUE field crew activities and train other crew members.
  • Represent and communicate on behalf of T2ue with client, sub-contractors, and third parties during field activities.
  • Effective maintenance, cleaning, and operation of vehicles, equipment, tools and supplies.
  • Facilitate Daily Tailgate Safety Meetings.
  • Perform Daily Job Hazard Analysis with crew members.
  • Drive commercial motor vehicles, however a CDL license is not required.
  • Direct safety set-up for proper maintenance of traffic signage.
  • Complete monthly equipment inventory for Supervisor reorder.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • 2+ years experience as a SUE Field Technician II
  • Ability to read and interpret utility company prints and design plans
  • Good oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Ability to secure client-required identity verification, such as TWIC and SWAC
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical (U.S. only)
  • Ability to obtain a DOT medical card for CMV operation (U.S. only)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical movements necessary to operate heavy tools and equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in all climates
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, by company vehicle or commercial airline, up to 2 week continuous stay.
