About the position

The Success Center Instructional Assistant is a part-time role focused on supporting students at the Spencer Campus. The primary responsibilities include proctoring exams, assisting students in developmental and college-level courses, and providing support with advising and registration tasks. The position requires strong organizational and computer skills, as well as a commitment to student and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Proctor university and college exams.
• Proctor Accuplacer placement exams.
• Interpret and enter placement test scores in college system.
• Accurately answer questions related to college admittance, testing requirements, program course requirements or other services offered through the college or Success Center.
• Maintain progress reports and student records/files.
• Obtain certification for and proctor various exams, such as: CASAS CLEP (college-level equivalency), HISET practice and final exams.
• Tutor students in developmental math, writing, and student success courses.
• Assist with peer tutoring program.
• Complete required training to proctor various exams.
• Communicate with students enrolled in both credit and noncredit courses.
• Work collaboratively with Director of Academic Success on daily tasks or new projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in education, English, or mathematics.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• Ability to effectively work with under-prepared students.
• Working knowledge of personal computers and education media equipment.
• Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a frequently interrupted environment.
• Strong representation of the college to employees, students, visitors, and the public.
• Enthusiastic and energetic job performance with high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity.
• Ability to assume responsibility and deal effectively with problems, exercising good judgment.
• Knowledge of correct English usage, grammar, punctuation strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics/algebra skills preferred.
