About the position

The Success Coach for Project Gateway at the Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) is responsible for supporting high school youths in developing leadership skills, preparing for college, and enhancing career readiness. This part-time role involves planning and implementing program activities, providing guidance on college applications, and facilitating workshops aimed at empowering students from immigrant and low-income communities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support in the planning and implementation of program activities and events for afterschool programs including college readiness, mental health, leadership and advocacy skills.
  • Provide group or one-on-one support to students on college application, financial aid application, and planning of college trips.
  • Outreach, recruitment, and enrollment of community members to meet program allocation.
  • Assist with SYEP YY workshops including planning and facilitation of work readiness training, interactive projects-based learning workshops and program orientation.
  • Comply with all DYCD/Robin Hood policies and administrative procedures.
  • Provide support and/or troubleshooting to program-related inquiries.
  • Assist with program audits, closeout, and site visits administered from DYCD and Robin Hood.
  • Attend staff meetings trainings as required by CPC and DYCD/Robin Hood.
  • Assist with administrative aspects of the program with data entry, compiling, filing, and organizing and maintaining worksites and participants folders (hard copy or digital).
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working within youth and/or workforce development required.
  • Must be culturally competent and provide services in a manner sensitive to participants' cultural heritage and traditions, life experience, sexual orientation and gender identity.
  • Excellent written, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated passion for working with immigrant and low-income communities, and youth development.
  • Knowledge of MS office applications and virtual platforms such as Zoom, Teams, and Webex.
  • Willingness to travel to worksites via public transportation.
  • Bilingual in English and Chinese and/or Spanish.

Benefits

  • $20.00 - $24.00 per hour; 15 - 25 hours per week with occasional weekend hours as needed.
  • Mandatory benefits including paid New York State sick time.
