About the position

Cambridge is offering a unique opportunity for talented interns to join our Succession & Acquisition Solutions team as a Financial Analyst Intern during the summer. This 10-12 week internship program is designed to provide students with practical insights into the financial services industry while allowing them to gain hands-on experience in their field. Interns will be based at our home offices in Fairfield, Iowa, or Phoenix, Arizona, and will be paired with a professional mentor, supervisor, and executive leader to facilitate networking opportunities and learning from industry professionals. At the conclusion of the internship, each intern will have the chance to present their experiences and a specific project of their choice, showcasing their contributions and learning outcomes. The Succession and Acquisition Solutions team plays a crucial role in assisting Cambridge financial professionals in planning for their futures. This includes creating succession plans, facilitating mergers or acquisitions, and structuring buyouts with existing partners. As a Financial Analyst Intern, you will be involved in analyzing data from past valuations to identify trends and help create a streamlined valuation system. You will also gain insights into the mergers and acquisitions space and understand how market conditions impact the financial services industry. This internship is an excellent opportunity to develop your analytical skills and gain exposure to various aspects of financial analysis and consulting. In this role, you will compile a database of completed valuations of financial professionals' practices from the past five years, analyze the data to uncover trends, and utilize tools like Excel and Tableau to assist the team in creating timely and accurate valuations. Additionally, you will have the chance to shadow experienced team members, contribute to small projects, and engage in collaborative discussions during team meetings. This internship not only provides valuable work experience but also emphasizes the importance of customer service and teamwork in a professional setting.

Responsibilities

  • Compile a database of completed valuations of financial professionals' practices from the past 5 years
  • Analyze the data to uncover trends
  • Utilize Excel and Tableau to create the database that will assist the team in creating more timely and accurate valuations
  • Learn the mergers and acquisitions space
  • Shadow veteran members on the team
  • Contribute to other small projects on the team like updating files in Salesforce
  • Review and update marketing materials
  • Provide suggestions for improvements within the team's processes
  • Respond to emails and phone inquiries with a positive customer service presence
  • Collaborate with team members and present ideas at team meetings and to leadership

Requirements

  • Students studying data analytics, business administration, economics, marketing, finance, or a similar major are preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel and Tableau

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous internship experience in finance or data analysis
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM tools
