About the position

The SUD Counselor/Group Facilitator at Palm House, Inc. is responsible for providing substance abuse counseling and case management within a residential treatment setting. This role involves individual and group counseling, maintaining client care records, and ensuring confidentiality in accordance with regulations. The position requires collaboration with clients and their families, as well as participation in program planning and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties as a Primary Counselor related to treatment of substance use, abuse, and addiction.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to clients and significant others concerned with clients.
  • Initiate and maintain client care records, including clinical notes and treatment plans.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information and records according to regulations.
  • Attend workshops and training to enhance treatment methods.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of community service agencies for client care coordination.
  • Participate in staffing of clients and staff meetings.
  • Participate in program planning, development, and evaluation.
  • Comply with supervision and evaluation of job performance.
  • Assist in training of counselor trainees and interns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director.

Requirements

  • Certified/Registered by the State approved SUD certification.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification obtained within six months from start date of employment.
  • No evidence of employee substance abuse for a minimum two-year period if a history of substance abuse/addiction exists.
  • Physically able to perform duties of the job, with medical examination and approval possibly required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Minimum AA Degree in human services-related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in substance abuse treatment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to perform treatment skills including client intake processing, differential assessment, treatment planning, and case management.
  • Possess working knowledge of substance abuse, use, and addiction treatment methods.
  • Ability to perform clear and concise oral and written communications.
